Private Mill Lake

Located on one of the most desired private all sports lakes in the area, you won’t want to miss this country setting located on the side of a hill in the treetops (so there are stairs). Bring back those childhood memories of living in a tree house but enjoy all the amenities this cottage has to offer. Let’s just say you won’t feel like you're roughing it or spending the week at Grandma’s old cottage!

Oh, and we are DOG FRIENDLY with NO DOG FEES!!!!

The cottage is private, with stairs, & does not sit directly on the private lake. Since it is a private lake, we can not allow you to bring your own watercraft. There is great fishing from the dock or take the rowboat/paddle boat/kayaks out to get to other areas of the lake! Blue gills, crappie, bass.....fish galore! We also have an automatic generator should the house lose power at any time! (seasonal outdoor furniture and kayaks). Maximum of 2 vehicles please, and 4WD is recommended in the winter!

Close to the KalHaven Nature Trail, ski resorts, wineries, and Lake Michigan and it's coastal cities are just a short drive away!

Include 2 bedrooms each with a queen bed and room for an air mattress (not included) and two full size couches.

You will need to provide beach towels, paper plates, food.... and such if so desired.

How to Book
Contact us today with your dates of choice, minimum 2 night booking.  Once your booking is accepted, you will need to provide a copy of your drivers license via email and will need to sign an electronic rental agreement (as see below).  We accept payment via Venmo/Cash App/Paypal.

Check-in/Out:   

Check in is at 4:00 pm. Check out is at 11:00 am.  All completed with an electronic door code.  Please be advised you need to be strict on checkout times. If you are over 30 minutes late, on your checkout time, you will be charged $50.00 per hour, unless other arrangements have made in writing.

We require a $200.00 security deposit to help protect the property and items located within the property. Upon check out we will inventory the property and condition, if acceptable, you will be refunded either all or part of your security deposit within 7 business days. If the premises appear dirty or damaged upon Check-in, you shall inform us immediately. Please help keep the property and its furnishings in good order, and only use appliances for their intended purposes.

We want this to be your home away from home but do appreciate that we have so many great renters that take excellent care of the property. We ask that you make sure all the dishes are cleaned, or, at least, being cleaned, in the dishwasher. Counters should be wiped off and clean of any debris. If the carpet or furniture is stained, we ask that you notify us immediately so that we can have it taken care of either while you are there or before the next renters arrive. Please strip the bed that have been used, so that we can clean them and all dirty towels are to be placed in the laundry room. We will sanitize and clean the whole house and wash all of the bedding and towels. If for some reason things are not left in this order, you could be charged a fee of up to $200.00 from your security deposit.

No Smoking (inside)! No exceptions. If you or anyone in your party is caught smoking in the house, you will be required to leave without compensation for nights lost and will lose your security deposit.

Please respect all fellow neighbors and guests that might be around. The water frontage is shared frontage, even though we do have our area and own private dock. We want you to have fun and enjoy your stay but please refrain from vulgarity and being loud after 10:00 pm.  

There are no parties allowed or no more than six people allowed at the cottage due to the size of the cottage, the number of beds, and parking. If there are more than six people, you will be required to leave immediately and will lose any paid rent and security deposit.

To help protect the woods and natural setting you are not allowed to discharge any fireworks or guns. You are not allowed to have fires by the lake or any other location except where the fire pit is located on the patio. We do not have a public launch for boats, so we DO NOT allow you to bring your boat unless it is non-motorized. If you or anyone in your party does this, you will be required to leave without compensation, for nights lost and will lose your security deposit. Kayaks and a row boat are provided for your enjoyment, along with life vests which are mandatory. We suggest you bring beach towels as we do not permit towels to be removed from the house. It is to be noted that using these boats and swimming is at your own risk and no lifeguard is on duty.

For your enjoyment, a hot tub is provided for relaxation. Please no bottles or glass in or near the hot tub. No children under the age of 18 years are permitted in the hot tub at any time. Please refrain from tracking dirt or sand into the hot tub. It is to be noted that using this hot tub is at your own risk and no lifeguard is on duty. Please keep in mind there is always a certain health risk associated with hot tubs. Our housekeepers sanitize and replenish chemicals prior to your arrival. Please do not stand on the hot tub cover as they are for insulation purposes only and are not designed to support a person or persons. Remember when not using the hot tub, please keep the cover on so it will stay warm.

The fireplace is a non-vented gas log fired firebox. Please do not throw any paper or any combustible materials in the fireplaces. CURRENTLY TURNED OFF.

The firepit on the patio should NEVER be left unattended when in use. Please ensure that you are in control of your fire at all times. Please do not SIT on the fire pit blocks or prop your feet on the blocks for your safety. Do not put anything in the fire pit besides wood to burn. 

This cottage is on a well and septic system. The mineral content is high and at times may emit an odor. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog if improper material is flushed. Please DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at any time. If this occurs and a clog results, you could be charged for damages.

This cottage is built into a hilltop, meaning you will need to walk up and down steep stairs. Please no running on the stairs and proceed with caution.

This home is privately owned, and we are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. We are not responsible for the loss of your personal belongings or valuables. 

We have a strict no cancellation policy. You may NOT sub-lease the property or have someone stay in your place, at any time. 

Most importantly have fun! Enjoy the times with family and friends. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you during your stay. If you have any special requests, we will do our best to accommodate you or set something up for you during your stay.
